About The Camp

This year during winter camp we will be working with the kids to produce a film which will show in exhibition at the RCAC Love Is Love Film Festival. Art classes will focus on making props and other elements to be used in the film, music classes will focus on creating music to be used in the film. The completed film will screen in February of 2023 at the Love Is Love Film Festival. On Friday, we will celebrate our hard work with a wrap/New Year's Eve party with an awesome balloon drop at "Midnight"! 

 

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Is there a sibling discount? Yes, after the first child, there is a discount of $25 per week for each additional sibling. The discount will appear at checkout.

  • How do I get on the waiting list? To be added to the waiting list, simply sign up for it like normal. When you get to the end of the registration, the system will tell you that you've been added to the waiting list instead of going through the payment process. If a spot becomes available you will receive an email informing you that you may complete your enrollment. 

  • Is there camp December 19-23rd? No. To give our staff time to spend Christmas with their families, and to make room for all the worship activities happening at RACC, we will not have camp the week prior to Christmas.

  • When can I register? Registration opens October 30th, the day before Halloween. Registration is open until the camp is full, or December 16th, whichever comes first. 

  • Can I sign up for one individual day of camp? Because of our limited capacity, and the format of this camp,  we do not offer individual days. 

  • Can I still register after registration closes? No. Registration closes December 16th, to give us time to prepare everything for the camp well ahead of the Christmas rush.

  • ​Can I sign up for just one day of extended camp? Extended camp is sold only by the week, so even if you only need to use it one day, you'll still have to pay the full $25. 

  • Can I sign up for the extended camp when I drop off in the morning? Short answer: possibly.  If no students are signed up for extended camp by the time registration closes, we will not be offering extended camp. To guarantee a spot in extended  camp, please sign up for it at the time of registration. 

  • If I pay for extended camp, but don't end up using it, can I get a refund? Because we schedule staff to be available ahead of time, we do not offer refunds for unused extended camp. 

  • What happens if I'm running late to pick up my child? Each day that a child is picked up from camp later than 4:15 PM (Regular pickup) or 5:30 PM (Extended pickup), Parents shall be assessed a fee of $20 for each twenty (20) minutes or portion thereof that they are late. (“Late Pick-up Fee”). Parents shall pay the Late Pick-Up Fee before the child returns to Riverside Children's Arts Center. 

  • If I pay the late pick-up fee, does that mean my child is signed up for extended camp the rest of the week? No. The late pick-up fee placed on your account is not considered a payment for extended camp.  This fee helps cover the cost of our staff having to stay late unexpectedly. 

  • My child is under 5 years old, can you make an exception for them to attend? No. Children must be 5 years old by their first day of camp. 

  • My child will turn 5 during the camp, can they attend since it's so close? No. Children must be 5 years old by their first day of camp. We will be happy to have them join us at the next camp! 

  • My child has an older sibling, can they attend as a helper? Information on volunteering can be found here.

  • If my plans change, can I get a refund? Tuition paid helps us cover necessary expenses, like art supplies, snacks for the kids, adequate staffing, and much more. Here are the cancelation guidelines:

    • Seven+ day's notice: Eligible for a full refund.

    • Six or fewer day's notice: Eligible for a 50% refund, and a 50% family credit, useable for any RCAC program. 

  • What if I don't want my child to be in the film? If you don't want your child to be in the film, simply let us know during registration, we'll make sure they only work behind the camera. Additionally, if you don't want your child's name mentioned in the credits for the film, let us know at registration. 

  • Will my child be eligible for an award? No. The film will screen in exhibition and not be eligible for awards. If your child is interested in competing in the film competition, we encourage them to enter the contest on their own. Click here for information.

  • Will we be able to watch the film on the last day of camp? In order to maximize the time we have for filming, editing will not take place until after the last day of camp.  Your first opportunity to see the finished film will be at the Love Is Love film festival in February of 2023. After the film festival, the film will be available online. 

  • Do we get into the film festival for free? The Love is Love Film Festival is a fund raising event for Riverside Children's Arts Center. Tickets are $10 per person. Camp tuition does not cover tickets to the event. 

 
 

What should they bring?

  • Lunch. Everyday. 

    • Please do not pack items that need to be refrigerated, we cannot store lunch boxes in the refrigerator.

    • Please do not pack items that need to be reheated, our staff cannot reheat food for students.

  • A water bottle. We'll have plenty of ice cold water for them to refill it as many times as they like throughout the day.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Your children will be with us for 7 to 10 hours per day, and the lunch you pack for them will be their biggest meal during that time. Please pack them something they like, and try to avoid excess sugar. Every camp we see bento boxes with beautifully sliced veggies go straight to the trash, and have kids complaining that they are "starving". Please consider what your child will actually eat, we don't have backup lunches. 

  • We will be spending time outdoors every day. It's a good idea to put sunscreen on your children every day. Our staff cannot put sunscreen on your child.
